From Manuscript Draft to Published Book!

It was fun being a guest expert on “The Write Hour Podcast” talking with Joyce Glass about the important steps to consider once your manuscript is written. There’s a lot of steps in order to turn it into a professionally published book! Joyce and I discussed the important steps to take when your draft is completed. It’s important for you to understand the processes you can complete yourself yourself and when it’s time to bring in the professionals. We had a great time chatting on the topics below and other things too:

  • Self-editing – when it’s okay for you to edit and when it’s time to hand it off to the pros;
  • Copy-editing/proofing – hire the pros to edit your manuscript; they make sure the book has consistent flow and correct sentence structure, grammar, spelling… (your professional written image matters); and
  • Book design – why having your book professionally formatted matters.

Joyce and I cover more in The Write Hour Podcast. Take a listen and Peter and I would love to hear your thoughts. What’s your biggest takeaway?

Until next time, remember to #WriteYourWay,

Colleen

About Colleen Wietmarschen

From introverted child to successful businesswoman to triathlete at age 50, finished a duathlon at age 60, violin student at age 54, and completing a 300-mile bike challenge in 30 days, I aim to face any challenge with an open mind.

As a speaker, I enjoy conveying my vast wisdom of business experience; from running a quarter million plus business to restarting after 18 years, believe me, I've seen it all. I like to bring energy to every engagement and inspire the audience with stories interspersed with value-packed knowledge. I also enjoy being a guest on podcast interviews having lots of fun interacting with hosts and sharing information from restarting my business after 18 years to taking up challenges in my 50s, and more!

I love consulting clients and mentoring students inspiring them as they move to their next level - whatever it is for them.

My favorite quote is "Music Makes Us Human." Author Unknown.
