Colleen and I want to wish you a very Happy Valentine’s Day! February is a month for love and this week we have shared ways you can love yourself. At this point, sharing the 7 words for love the Greeks used might just be cliche but these words do a good job at showing the ways we all experience love. The theme of this week is what the Greeks call, “philautia,” a love of self. Because February is Heart Health Month, in her Monday Musing column, Colleen shared her tips on how you can keep your heart healthy. This week’s #TuesdayTip I focused on three ways you should love yourself. But we can’t forget to share our love with others. That is what Valentine’s Day is all about; sharing our love with others.
Valentine’s Day Love
During this week of Valentine’s Day share your love with others. Take your husband out to dinner tomorrow evening. Grab a few drinks with your friends on Saturday. Spend a day with your kids. These are all different forms of how we can share our love with others. The world might seem crazy but what holds us together is the love we share between our friends, family, and strangers.
Agape: a universal love. When growing up, Colleen always taught me, “You don’t have to like everyone but you have to respect everyone.” We must remember to love and respect everyone. It’s not always easy, and sometimes we fail, but when we can give and receive love the world becomes a stronger place. This might mean going to the food bank to volunteer or signing up to do Habitat for Humanity. Maybe it’s as simple as visiting your elderly neighbor or babysitting an evening for your neighbors.
What are you doing share love today, tomorrow, and into the future?
