Remember, your book is a business and whether your book is your primary business or you are using your book as part of your business, generating leads is the only way you can make money. What are three ways you can use your book to generate leads?
- Drive traffic to your website
- Find speaking engagements
- Increase your readers
How do businesses make money? Well, they need to do work or sell some type of product to their customers. In this world of technology, your website is where your potential customers can learn about you and what you offer. Once on your website your visitors will be able to find more information about you, what you offer, where they can follow you, and much more. It is a great place for potential customers to learn about your business.
Remember to always include your website in a place where readers can find it. You can add it to the back cover of your book, your about the author page, the title page, or the book’s copyright page. Take a look at your book’s front and back matter and add your website link in the places where it makes the most sense.
Just by having a book and calling yourself an author you already are a step ahead in the speaking industry. If you are looking to speak, and we highly suggest you do, having a book will make you more credible. Whether you are raising awareness for your cause, finding new clients, or just looking to share your story with more people, speaking engagements help you reach a large number of people at one time.
In the speaking world today there are a number of places you can ply your trade. The most common places you can speak are at conferences or other large events held by industry groups. Nearly every large organization will hold some type of yearly conference where they are in need of speakers. This is your shot to speak in front of a large audience of potnetial readers, all who are interested in and want to learn more about your area of expertise.
You can also take your talents online to podcasts or over the air to radio and television. These types of gigs are great to reach people across more than just your local area. Podcasts can be shared across the globe, television allows others to see you, and radio shows are great places to find devoted listeners. Whatever way you choose to go, speaking is a great way to find potential leads!
Reach More Readers
The more you write, the better chance you have to reach your readers. Did you write a book a few years ago and find some success? Do you have a series of stories you want to share with others? You can use a second book to drive renewed readership to your other book(s). Whether your books are sequels or wholly unrelated, when you have a second book, readers who have enjoyed your writing will search for more of your material, driving an increase in readers.
Your book is a lead generator. All you need to do is spend the proper amount of time and effort to properly promote your book. Finding more readers and therefore more leads, is as simple as marketing.
