Sharing Your Story At The Right Time

May 19, 2020 by Peter Wietmarschen Leave a Comment

Sharing Your Story

It doesn’t matter if you write the perfect book or the most captivating speech, if you don’t share your story with the right people at the right time, you will not see the optimum success. Sharing your story to the relevant audience is crucial if you want to make more money and sell more books. So how can you make sure you share your story to the revelant people at the right time?

Know Your Audience

If it seems like we are constantly talking about knowing your audience it’s because knowing your audience is so crucial. To make your message relevant to the right people, you need to know who the right people are. Knowing your ideal audience means you know where your audience hangs out. You know they listen to certain podcasts or hang out on twitter or attend specific events. When you know “who” you are more likely to find the right people at the right time to listen to your story.

Know Your Message

Know your message. This sounds pretty obvious but you need to understand your message and what you are trying to share. The more clear you understand your message the more clear your message will be when you share it with others. Also, when you know your message you can gain a better understanding of who your message is geared towards. Knowing your audience and knowing your message goes hand in hand. To know one gives you a better understanding of the other.

Understand Timing

Timing is truly the hardest thing to understand. It’s important to understand your message so you can properly share your story at the right time. An easy example is Target wouldn’t have a Christmas sale in the middle of May. It’s important for you to have a good understanding of the proper timing for your message. A busy summer might be a bad time to try to sell to mothers. However, during this time of social distancing a speech geared towards overcoming anxiety might be a quite timely.

Importance of Sharing Your Story

You can see how all three areas mentioned above work together. When you know your audience you can better identify how to share your message. Your message needs to be shared with your audience at the appropriate time. Everything is interconnected which is why it’s important to be clear on these three areas. When you understand how these three areas work together you will see how you can sharing your message to the right people at the right time.
