I can’t believe this but it has been 2 years since the first time we met for the Your Literary Prose Book Club! Way back in the beginning of 2020, when the world was shutting it’s doors we took it upon ourselves to open our doors the best way we could. That is when the idea for a virtual book club came about and we’ve been going strong ever since!
Now we’ve done a little tinkering around to find the best setup and I think we’ve done just that. Each month on the 3rd Monday evening of the month we gather together live on Zoom to discuss the book of the month. One of the core tenants in our book club has always been that we want to come together as friends, readers, and colleagues to have fun, get to know each other, and have a great discussion about the books we’re reading.
Plus, we have smaller discussions in our Facebook group during the time between our meetings. After all, it’s great to stay in touch more often than once a month! What can you expect in the Facebook group? Well, we:
- Share our thoughts on the current book as we read.
- Continue the discussions about our previous books.
- Make recommendations on books others might want to read.
- Suggest books to read for the book club in the future.
We’d love to have you join us for our family of readers!
Spread the Word!
Here is where I ask if you can help us spread the word. If you are a current book club member, invite a friend or two to our next meeting. The more, the merrier and each of every one of you was invited by someone to join, so spread the love!
If you haven’t joined us yet, we’d love to have you! You can find all the information about the next meeting of the book down below. But please:
- Join the Your Literary Prose Book Club Facebook group,
- Say hi,
- Check out the Facebook event in the group for all the Zoom information (and you can also bring a friend!).
So what can you expect this month for our book club?
May 2022 Book Club Selection
This month our book club selection is The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. After doing some research into what book to read I feel that this book is a great complement to the recent books we’ve read. The author tells her story of growing up in a dysfunctional family with an alcoholic father and free spirit mother. “The Glass Castle” is truly astonishing – a memoir permeated by the intense love of a peculiar but loyal family.
What: The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
When: Monday, May 16, 2022 @ 7:00 PM Eastern
Where: Zoom which you can find a link in our Facebook event: The Glass Castle: A Your Literary Prose Book Club Discussion.
